Defragment Exchange database with eseutil.exe
Perform an offline defragmentation on Exchange database:
- Backup your Exchange database
- Dismount the database
- Open elevated command prompt and navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin
or C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin - Run: eseutil.exe /d "D:\path\database.edb" /t "D:\temp.edb"
Where:
"D:\path\database.edb" - path to database to defragment
"D:\temp.edb" - path to temporary file (can be on different drive)
Check that host is online before running robocopy
A simple task - once a week I need to copy certain folder to a NAS device. There are three devices and at any time only one of them is online.
Following Windows PowerShell script will check if host is online and if it is, run the robocopy command. If the host is offline, it will skip it and run the check on the next host.
Robocopy logs will be saved to "D:\My Scripts" folder.

Open Exchange database .edb file
Recently had to open Microsoft Exchange 2010 mail database .edb file recovered from a recent backup. I didn't actually need to recover any emails or mailboxes, simply view what emails were present in one particular folder at the time of backup.
