Garmin Edge doesn't save activity after a ride

Issue

After a ride, Garmin Edge 530 doesn't allow end and save the ride. Activity Start / Stop button beeps on pressing, but doesn't actually do anything. Pressing the power button brings the following message:

Connect IQ app is open

Connect IQ app is open
Close the app before putting the device to sleep or powering off.

Download course / route from Garmin Connect while Activity is running

Garmin Edge 530

I use Garmin Edge 530 Cycling Computer and there were few occasions when I needed to download a course from Garmin Connect (running on iPhone XR) while on the road with an activity running on the Edge 530. Normally, when you send a course from the Garmin Connect app to Garmin Edge you need to do a sync for the course to download. The problem is that syncing doesn't seem to be possible while an activity is in progress (the sync just times out or gives "device busy" error message).

Vegas Movie Studio stopped recognizing iPhone .mov files after upgrade to iOS11

Apple made changes to their image and video formats in iOS 11. For photos, instead of JPG they now use High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF). For videos, instead of H.264 they now use High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC).

As a result, Vegas (Sony) Movie Studio no longer recognises .mov files created by iPhones and iPads running iOS11 (or imports them as audio-only clips). As a workaround you can tell iOS to record videos in the old H.264 .mov format. To do this go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible.

Create Child Apple ID with Gmail as login ID (or any other non iCloud email)

If you want to create an Apple ID for a child under 13 years old you have to do it on your own Apple device in Family Sharing. One disadvantage in doing it this way is that you are forced to create a new @icloud.com email address and use it as an Apple ID / iCloud ID for your child's account. So if your child already has an existing email address he / she won't be able to use it as an Apple. To make things worse, if you created an Apple ID with @icloud.com email address it is no longer possible to change it (you can do it with no issues if you used a third party email address).
