Wireless AC 7265 adapter stopped working due to driver digital signature error

Acer Swift SF315 wireless adapter (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265) stopped working. In Windows network settings wireless doesn't appear at all. Device manager shows the Wi-Fi adapter with an exclamation mark, and Device Status shows the following error: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

Device Manager > Network Adapters

Wireless Adapter Properties

Removing the driver didn't fix the issue. Windows was immediately re-installing the same driver with the same signature error.

Hardware Diagnostics on Acer Swift laptop with no legacy boot mode

Acer Swift SF315

I recently came across a misbehaving Acer Swift SF315 laptop and wanted to run some diagnostics tools from Ultimate Boot CD. UBCD requires BIOS / legacy boot mode, but no matter where I looked, there was no option to enable legacy boot mode on this laptop. On some Acer devices, this can be done after enabling the supervisor password in BIOS, but on this device, it only allowed to disable secure boot - legacy boot mode was still nowhere to be found.

Prevent mouse / keyboard from waking computer from sleep

Cannot prevent Logitech MX Master 3 mouse from waking the computer on mouse movement or click. Normally, to disable this behaviour you need to open Device Manager, open Mouse Properties, and disable "Allow this device to wake the computer" option in Power Management tab.

Device Manager > Mouse Power Management

In this case, that didn't make any difference. The mouse could still wake the computer with no issues.
