Issue
Right click > New Windows context menu doesn't display New Word Document option. Repairing MS Office installation doesn't fix the issue.
Resolution
- Create a black Microsoft word .docx file with name WORD12.docx and it copy to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\vfs\Windows\SHELLNEW folder
- Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.docx
- Double click on Default entry and change its value to Word.Document.12
- Inside .docx key create key Word.Document.12
- Inside Word.Document.12 key create another key called ShellNew
- Inside ShellNew create String type entry with name FileName and value C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Root\VFS\Windows\ShellNew\WORD12.docx
- Double click on Default entry and change its value to Word.Document.12
That should be it, New Word Document should be back in the context menu.
