Issue
Joomla is refusing to download an update from V3.10 to V4.3. After enabling Joomla Next update channel, the following message is displayed:
Update unavailable
An update to Joomla 4.3.4 was found, but it wasn't possible to download that update. There are three possibilities why this happens:
- Your host doesn't support the minimum requirements for Joomla 4.3.4 and there is no alternative download for your configuration available
- The update to Joomla 4.3.4 is not available for your stability level.
- There is a problem with the Joomla Update Server.
Resolution
The issue was caused by an unsupported MariaDB / MySQL version (<5.6) running on the host server. Updating the database engine to v10.3 resolved the issue.
