Issue
Windows Server 2012 machine fails to find and install any updates. Windows Update displays following error:
Windows could not search for new updates
There was a problem checking for updates.
Error(s) found: Code800B0001 Windows Update ran into a problem.
The issue only occurs when the server is using WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) server. Updating directly from Microsoft works fine. WSUS V3.0 SP2 was installed on Windows Server 2008R2.
Resolution
The issue was resolved by installing Microsoft KB2734608 patch on the WSUS server.
