Windows update keeps failing to install 3 Windows Updates:
KB2705219 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems
KB2769369 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems
KB2647753 Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems

After trying to install them, Windows request a restart, after which it says that all 3 updates failed to install and lists them again as available recommended updates. I downloaded the files separately from Microsoft.com and tried to install them individually. Each manual installation failed. The "Fix It" tool is useless as well. What other options do I have? Some of my programs will not run. Specifically, Quicken 2012.

Run Windows Update and check %windir%\Windowsupdate.log. There may be some clues of what is causing the failure.

In addition you can check application logs after trying to run update installation files manually. There may be some additional info.

Try running sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt to check for damaged system files.

If there are other more serious underlying issues with the system it may be quicker and easier to simply re-install Windows.

After all I have tried and been through, I think your suggestion to re-install Windows may be my best and less time consuming option. I purchased a new hard drive to start the process.
It is dismal that many (such as myself) hate Microsoft for their lousy products and poor customer service but continue to use them. I must be insane.
